Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to common questions about Glow.

Clear answers. No pressure. No fine print.

Glow Homes is deliberately different from most home energy providers.

Rather than selling off-the-shelf packages or pushing quick decisions, Glow takes a design-led, long-term approach to home energy. That means some parts of how we work may feel unfamiliar — especially if you’re used to price-first comparisons or instant quotes.

These questions cover the things homeowners most often want clarity on, from whether Glow is the right fit to how systems are designed, delivered, and looked after over time.

If you’re exploring options, taking your time, or simply trying to understand how modern home energy systems really work, you’re in the right place.

And if something isn’t answered here, we’re always happy to explain how Glow works — or to be honest, when we’re not the right fit.

Let us try and answer your questions

Is Glow right for everyone?

No, and that is intentional.

Glow is designed for homeowners who value quality, coordination, and long-term performance over speed or lowest price.

If you are looking for the cheapest upfront option, a quick install with minimal design work, or a standard package picked from a price list, Glow is probably not the right fit.

If you are looking for a system designed once, properly, calm and considered delivery, and infrastructure you can rely on for decades, then Glow Homes may be exactly right.

No.

Glow does not offer discounts, seasonal promotions, referral incentives, or price-led offers.

Pricing is governed by system design, delivery coordination, and operational reality, not sales tactics.

Where collective delivery creates genuine efficiency, this is applied fairly and transparently as part of the delivery process.

We do not discount to create urgency, and we do not negotiate pricing.

This protects quality, fairness between homeowners, and long-term accountability.

No.

Glow does not sell individual products, bundles, or off-the-shelf packages.

We do not ask you to choose panels, batteries, or inverters from a list.

Instead, we design a complete system that works as one, based on the home, the household, and how energy will be used over time.

The right system emerges through design, not selection.

Glow does not offer leasing, rent-to-own schemes, or utility-controlled systems.

Glow systems are designed for homeowners who want to own their energy infrastructure outright.

To support payment flexibility, we offer access to third-party payment providers such as Klarna, Clearpay / Afterpay, and PayPal Pay in 4, which allow eligible customers to spread payments over a short period.

These options are designed to support cash flow, not to replace ownership or introduce long-term finance structures.

If longer-term finance options are introduced in the future, they will be offered carefully and transparently, without compromising ownership, quality, or clarity.

No.

Checking your postcode does not commit you to anything, trigger a sales call, or lock you into a process.

It simply helps us understand local context, such as delivery planning and whether Glow Networks operate in your area.

Context informs design. It does not limit it.

Glow is not a fast-install model, by design.

Typical timelines include time for proper system design, coordination through a Glow Network participation window, and planned, prepared installation.

From confirmed participation to installation, delivery typically operates on a six to eight-week cycle, depending on the network window end period and system complexity.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is left vague.

Glow systems are installed by trusted, accredited delivery partners working to Glow’s standards.

Installers are selected based on proven technical capability, consistency of workmanship, and alignment with Glow’s quality and delivery expectations.

Glow owns the system design, delivery coordination, and customer experience.

Responsibility is clear before, during, and after installation.

Installation is not the end of the journey.

Glow provides clear system handover, monitoring and performance visibility, and ongoing aftercare aligned with long-term ownership.

Systems are designed to evolve as homes change, whether that is EV adoption, increased demand, or future electrification.

Long-term systems deserve long-term care.

Yes, where appropriate.

Glow systems are designed with modularity and future expansion in mind.

That does not mean upgrades are assumed or pushed.

It means the system is not boxed in on day one.

Future changes are considered during initial design so the system remains relevant as the home evolves.

No.

Glow is a storage-first system provider.

Battery storage is not treated as an optional add-on.

It is a core part of how modern home energy systems work reliably and intelligently.

Systems without storage are not aligned with Glow’s design philosophy or long-term performance standards.

Generally, no.

Glow focuses on owner-occupied homes, semi-detached and detached properties, and long-term ownership profiles.

This selectivity reduces delivery risk and ensures systems are designed for the people who will live with them long-term.

That is absolutely fine.

Glow is built around advisory conversations, not pressure or urgency.

You are welcome to explore, ask questions, and take time to understand what is right for your home.

No pressure. No shortcuts.

Yes.

At handover Glow will walk through the system with you, explaining how generation, storage, and monitoring work. Most homeowners find the system very easy to understand once it is running.

You will also have access to monitoring that allows you to see how your system is performing over time.

From time to time Glow may review system performance using monitoring data to ensure everything continues to operate as expected.

These reviews help confirm generation and storage behaviour remain consistent with the system design. If anything unusual appears, Glow can investigate further and advise if needed.

Occasionally.

If monitoring indicates that something may need attention — for example, a system appearing offline or performing unusually — Glow may reach out to check that everything is operating normally.

In many cases, the cause can be something simple, such as a temporary internet connection issue.

Yes.

From time to time Glow shares simple seasonal guidance to help homeowners get the most from their system. This might include tips related to seasonal solar production, battery usage, or practical maintenance advice.

These messages are occasional and designed purely to be helpful.

Yes.

Solar panels typically require very little maintenance, but if cleaning or roof-level work is ever required, Glow can recommend trusted local professionals who safely carry out this type of work.

Glow maintains a small list of reputable maintenance partners for homeowners who prefer professional assistance.

Sometimes.

Modern energy systems include software that manages monitoring and system behaviour. Where appropriate, Glow may apply software or firmware updates that help maintain stability, compatibility, or monitoring performance over time.

Consumer Protection & Standards

Are customers protected if something goes wrong?

Yes.

Glow Homes operates under recognised UK consumer protection standards. Every installation is covered by clear written contracts, defined warranty terms, and structured aftercare support.

If an issue arises, Glow remains your single point of contact. We do not pass responsibility to installers or manufacturers.

If a complaint cannot be resolved directly, there is access to independent dispute resolution in line with applicable consumer protection codes.

Protection is built into the process from the outset — not added afterwards.

Yes.

Glow provides a clear written contract before any installation work begins. This outlines system scope, payment terms, responsibilities, warranties, and cancellation rights.

Nothing proceeds without formal agreement and understanding.

Design comes first. Commitment comes after clarity.

Yes.

Customers receive statutory cooling-off rights in accordance with UK consumer regulations. Details are provided clearly within your contract documentation before any agreement is signed.

Glow does not use urgency tactics or time-limited pressure to secure decisions.

Deposits are structured in line with contract terms and consumer protection standards.

Payment milestones are designed to reflect delivery stages, not arbitrary sales targets.

Full details of deposit structure and protection are provided in writing before any commitment.

All installations are delivered through appropriately qualified and accredited professionals working in accordance with current UK electrical, building, and grid regulations.

Where applicable, installations are carried out by MCS-certified partners and notified to the relevant Distribution Network Operator (DNO) in line with G98/G99 requirements.

Installation partners are vetted, insured, and governed by Glow’s internal standards and review processes.

Glow has a clear and structured complaints procedure.

If something is not right, we aim to resolve it promptly and fairly. Details of how to raise a concern are available on our Complaints Procedure page.

If a resolution cannot be reached directly, independent dispute resolution is available in accordance with applicable consumer codes.

Performance estimates are based on site-specific design, roof orientation, shading, system configuration, and recognised modelling standards.

Estimates are provided during the design stage — not guessed or generalised.

Actual performance will vary based on usage, weather conditions, and grid factors, all of which are explained before installation.

Own your energy

Energy ownership isn’t about buying technology. It’s about designing a system that works quietly, reliably, and for the long term.
